Language Adventures Summer Day Camp

The preservation of Indigenous languages in Canada is essential for future generations. The "Language Adventures" program teaches children aged 5 to 12 these languages through nature explorations led by Elders.

Key aspects include:

  • Culturally sensitive programming with language-based activities, songs, and play.

  • Involvement of youth volunteers for mentorship, boosting self-esteem and community knowledge.

  • Nature engagement fosters connection and therapeutic education.

  • Elders share traditional teachings, enhancing cultural understanding.

  • Music integration reduces anxiety and enhances focus, creating a supportive learning environment.

  • Regular group gatherings build trust, encourage collaboration, and promote participation.

The program emphasizes inclusivity, ensuring comfort for all participants regardless of background.

"We must teach our children to smell the earth, to taste the rain, to touch the wind, to see things grow, to see the sun rise and night fall-to care."
-John Cleal
