The Colour Orange
The Colour Orange” is an engaging and meaningful evening dedicated to genuine Truth & Reconciliation. This event brings together families, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, with the goal of progressing as a united community. Taking place in late September, the evening is beautifully enhanced by the prairie sunset that paints the sky in vibrant colors. Surrounded by nature, the setting is always breathtaking, with the orange hues of autumn leaves, the warm glow of the communal fire, and a sea of orange "Every Child Matters" shirts creating a cohesive theme.
The event features an interactive Indigenous Art Gallery nestled in a forest aglow with orange light, inviting attendees to explore the works of Indigenous artists and engage with various elements of Indigenous history, culture, stories, traditions, and life experiences. Throughout the evening, personal accounts from survivors are shared, offering participants the opportunity to connect with the resilient individuals who have courageously recounted their journeys.
In addition to the forest gallery, the evening highlights Indigenous musicians, delicious food, and artisans creating beautiful Indigenous art and crafts. The unique outdoor environment in a tranquil forest encourages strangers to gather around fires and form lasting friendships, adding a powerful and beautiful dimension to the evening.
The name and concept of “The Colour Orange” was envisioned and brought to life by Shauna Cody,
